Bag Containing Cash, Plane Tickets Stolen
A Saudi Arabian tourist lost plane tickets and cash Friday during a robbery at the Holiday Inn on Harbor Boulevard, Ventura police say.
The incident happened about 12:25 p.m. and police were still searching for two suspects Friday afternoon.
Aiman Malaikah, 40, was loading luggage into a van at the front entrance to the hotel in the 400 block of Harbor Boulevard when a well-dressed man walked up and grabbed a small bag from the passenger seat, according to Ventura Police Officer Tim Turner.
The man then jumped into a waiting car and sped off through the parking lot toward Harbor Boulevard.
Malaikah chased the getaway car on foot and caught up to the driver’s side. The driver allegedly swerved into Malaikah, knocking him to the ground, authorities said.
The suspects drove off with 14 airline tickets and an undetermined amount of cash, according to Turner.
They are being sought on suspicion of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
Malaikah suffered minor bruises and abrasions in the incident.
