Phillies’ Eisenreich Out for the Season
The San Diego Padres were near completion of a trade for Dodger nemesis Jim Eisenreich of the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday, but backed away when the Phillies notified them that Eisenreich might have a broken bone in his right foot. The Phillies confirmed it Friday, and Eisenreich, batting .361, is out for the season.
The outfielder suffered the injury Sunday when he fouled a ball off his foot while facing Todd Worrell. Eisenreich has a career .430 batting average against the Dodgers.
