OUTLOOK

There might not have been a better story last year than the Trojans’ rise during their first season in the league. After years of taking its lumps in the bigger Sea View League (although it was 4-6-1, 2-2-1 in 1994), University became a county-wide player, rising into the top 10 (reaching No. 9), challenging for its first league title since 1975, and winning its first playoff game since 1991. This year’s offense has some much-needed experience, which should make up for the loss of talent on the defensive side to graduation, including Times all-county first-team defensive back Bryant Geary and second-team linebacker Fred Roberts. Collette is getting a lot of looks from colleges for obvious physical reasons; Kelvin Murray is an all-league first-team running back, and Contento was often elusive last year scampering between linemen. Illingworth was the league’s best punter.
