Groups to Host Weekend Fiesta
In celebration of Mexican Independence Day, the Oxnard Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Inlakech Cultural Center are hosting a weekend fiesta featuring food booths, arts and crafts, mariachi music and folk dancing.
Mexico celebrates Independence Day on Monday, marking the date in 1810 when the Mexican population rebelled against its Spanish rulers.
The event will be held at the old Oxnard High School football field at 937 W. 5th St. from noon to 8 p.m. today and Sunday.
Admission is $3 for adults, $1 for children 6 to 12 and free for children under 5 accompanied by an adult.
