Newport Harbor’s Ohrel Rushes for 209 yards
Ray Ohrel rushed for 209 yards in 13 carries and Greg Wertman carried the ball five times for 94 yards as Newport Harbor blasted Orange, 48-14, in a nonleague football game Friday at Newport Harbor.
Ohrel began the scoring with an eight-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter and Peter Hogan added another score in the quarter on a four-yard touchdown pass from Josiah Fredriksen.
Fredriksen threw for 115 yards, completing 10 of 16 passes, including three for touchdowns. He found Hogan for a seven-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, and then connected with Brad La Bass on a 30-yard strike to give Newport Harbor a 28-0 lead at the half.
Ohrel added a 23-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to increase the Sailors’ lead to 35-0, and Wertman finished the scoring with touchdown runs of two and 67 yards.
The Sailors (1-0) out-gained Orange, 457-292, in total yards.
