Toro to Buy Hardie Irrigation: The $130-million acquisition of Laguna Niguel-based James Hardie Irrigation Group, a maker of garden sprinklers, valves and timers, would double the size of Minnesota-based Toro Co.’s irrigation group to about $280 million in annual sales. Hardie declined to comment, but Toro, a maker of garden supplies, said layoffs would be likely because there would be duplications in many areas.
