Allred Endorses Lynch for D.A.

With jury selection for the O.J. Simpson wrongful-death civil trial grinding away Thursday inside the Santa Monica courthouse, lawyer and radio talk show host Gloria Allred took to the courtyard just outside to announce she is endorsing John Lynch for district attorney.

Lynch’s campaign is based largely on the notion that incumbent Dist. Atty. Gil Garcetti botched the Simpson criminal trial, and Allred asserted that Garcetti “must take responsibility and blame for his decisions or those which he allowed to be made which affected the outcome.”

With Lynch standing immediately behind her, Allred said the criminal case should have been tried in Santa Monica rather than downtown. In addition, she said that prosecutors disregarded key jury research and failed to introduce all incriminating evidence.

Allred, who represented the family of slaying victim Nicole Brown outside of court during Simpson’s criminal trial, stressed that her endorsement reflected her views only. “I want to be clear. . . . These are my personal opinions--not spoken on behalf of any client, any group or anyone else,” she said.

Allred’s endorsement gives Lynch the name value of a well-known women’s rights advocate.
