Beschen Rolls Into Quarterfinals at Trestles

Shane Beschen of San Clemente dominated the competition on four-foot waves on the sixth day of the Body Glove SurfBout at Lower Trestles.

Others advancing to today’s quarterfinals include Shea Lopez of Dana Point, Jeff Booth of Laguna Beach and San Juan Capistrano’s David Pinto, who eliminated Pat O’Connell of Laguna Niguel.

In the women’s competition, Alisa Cairns of Laguna Beach finished third behind Hawaii’s Megan Abubo and defending champion Rochelle Ballard, who was able to jump from fourth to second in the closing minutes.

In the finals of the longboard division, Joel Tudor of Cardiff dominated the competition, and Brendan White of Capistrano Beach finished fourth.
