Medical Resource Fund-Raiser Planned

The Ventura County Medical Resource Foundation invites local connoisseurs of gourmet food, fine wines and premium beer to its 11th annual Lakeside Party fund-raiser Sunday at Lake Casitas.

Directors of the foundation, which raises money to support programs at the Ventura County Medical Center and related facilities, said this year’s event is more important than ever because the hospital recently incurred funding cuts totaling more than $1 million.

The event, from noon to 5 p.m. at 11311 Santa Ana Road, will feature an art show, silent auction and boating. Joe Daddy’s Restaurant in Ventura will provide light jazz and blues entertainment.

Wines and beers available for tasting will include Callaway, Chateau St. Michelle, Meridian, Humpback Ale, Firestone Vineyards and ales from Ventura’s Shields Brewing Co.

Restaurants and specialty stores providing food include Antonio’s, Golden China, Giovanni’s/Pastabilities, Pierpont Inn, See’s Candies and the Santa Barbara Olive Co.

Tickets are $45 per person if bought before the event or $50 at the gate.
