Golf Range, Eatery Plans to Be Discussed

The public will have an opportunity today to comment on two proposed developments that could alter the look of Topanga Canyon Boulevard.

One is a 24-hour Woodland Hills location for Jerry’s Famous Deli, which would join several others in the San Fernando Valley. The chain’s plan is to expand an existing property at 21857 Ventura Blvd. near Topanga Canyon to create an 8,421-square-foot restaurant with room for about 367 people.

Jerry’s hopes to obtain permission to stay open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and sell alcohol from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. every day.

Parking for 395 cars would be available using an existing lot.

A public hearing on the deli proposal will be at 9 a.m. today at the Sherman Oaks Woman’s Club, 4808 Kester Ave.

The other project is a golf driving range near the corner of Marilla Street and Topanga Canyon. The range would be one of just a handful in the Valley operating independently from golf courses or clubs.

Planned amenities include a pro shop, a starter shed with an indoor training area, a supervised child play area, a food concession counter, a two-story structure to accommodate 50 golfers, six tee boxes on a lawn area, two putting greens and a chipping area.

The range is proposed for 9754 Topanga Canyon Blvd.

A hearing on the range plan will be at 10 a.m. at the club. For more information on either meeting, call the Los Angeles Office of Zoning Administration at (213) 580-5569.
