A teenage boy was booked into juvenile hall Thursday after he tried to rob a pizza delivery man, authorities said.

The incident occurred about 2:45 p.m. at the corner of Los Angeles and Moorpark avenues. The boy allegedly walked up to the driver, who was stopped at the intersection, and punched him several times, according to Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Frank O’Hanlon.

Then the 15-year-old suspect, whom authorities would not identify because he is a minor, allegedly reached into the victim’s car and grabbed a pouch containing pizzas. He dropped the cheesy loot after noticing that a passing deputy had witnessed the assault, O’Hanlon said.
