George Zuckerman, 80, screenwriter in the 1940s and 1950s and novelist in the 1960s and 1970s. Among his motion pictures were the 1949 films “Border Incident,” starring Ricardo Montalban and George Murphy, and “Trapped” starring Lloyd Bridges; “Iron Man” in 1951 with Jeff Chandler; “Ride Clear of Diablo,” starring war hero Audie Murphy and Dan Duryea, and “Dawn at Socorro” starring Rory Calhoun, both in 1954. Zuckerman also handled scripts for the 1956 film “Written on the Wind,” starring Rock Hudson and Lauren Bacall, and the 1957 movie “The Tattered Dress” with Chandler and Jeanne Crain. As an author, Zuckerman wrote “The Last Flapper” in 1969, “Farewell, Frank Merriwell” in 1973 and “The Potato Peelers” in 1974. On Monday in Santa Monica.
