When the Bruins lost to Tennessee on Sept. 7, the Volunteers were ranked No. 2 in the nation. When they lost to Michigan on Sept. 28, the Wolverines were No. 7.

Arizona State is fourth.

“I’ve looked at films and their passing game might be better than Tennessee’s, and they run the ball better,” said Bruin Coach Bob Toledo. “Their running game is better than Michigan’s, and they throw the ball better.”

Look for Larry Atkins to get more time at roverback for the Bruins.

Atkins, who sat out the first two games of the season because of injuries, played sparingly against Michigan, then made four unassisted tackles--one for a loss--against Oregon.

“He’s an athletic guy,” Toledo said. “We’ve got to find more situations for him to be involved.”
