A local man drew a 120-day jail sentence for attacking a police officer trying to arrest him on suspicion of domestic violence, Los Angeles City Atty. Jim Hahn said.

Van Nuys Municipal Court Commissioner Martin E. Green sentenced Francisco Aragon, 39, Wednesday after the defendant pleaded no contest to one count of battery on a police officer causing injury.

Aragon’s girlfriend called police early Sunday after Aragon became angry over her choice of carpool mates. When officers arrived they tried to handcuff Aragon, who police said repeatedly punched, kicked and spit on the officers.

One officer required medical treatment. Aragon was subdued with the help of other West Valley officers. In addition to jail time, Aragon was placed on three years probation that included a requirement he attend at least 52 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and keep away from his girlfriend, with whom he was living at the time of the attack.
