El Camino Real’s Fredette Too Much for Chatsworth

El Camino Real High quarterback Aaron Fredette scored on a four-yard sneak midway through the fourth quarter and the Conquistadores held on to beat host Chatsworth, 13-10, in a Northwest Valley Conference game Friday night.
Fredette completed five of nine passes for 79 yards and rushed for 50 yards in 15 carries. He also intercepted a pass by Chatsworth quarterback Ryan Martinez to seal the victory. El Camino Real improved to 3-2, 1-1 in the conference.
Martinez started in place of benched quarterback Travis Winn, a move that has sparked controversy. Winn was visibly shaken on the sideline after the game. Martinez completed 10 of 22 passes for 138 yards.
Chatsworth (3-2, 1-1) turned the ball over five times, including four fumbles. El Camino Real lost two fumbles.
After Fredette’s touchdown, Chatsworth’s Laron Buckner had a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown nullified by a personal foul. Buckner, a wide receiver and defensive back, finished with seven catches for 101 yards.
