Lightweights Head Pond Fight Card

ANAHEIM — Lightweights Demetrio Ceballos of Panama and Julio Cesar Herrera of Tijuana headline tonight’s fight card at the Pond. Ceballos (16-1, nine knockouts) and Herrera (21-3, 19 knockouts) will meet in a 12-round bout for the vacant North American Boxing Organization lightweight title.
Ceballos, 23, is coming off a fifth-round knockout of Jesus Rodriguez at the Forum July 8. Herrera, 23, lost a unanimous 10-round decision to former world champion Gabriel Ruelas March 13 at the Olympic Auditorium.
In the semi-main event, welterweight Alfred Ankamah (16-1, 15 knockouts) of Los Angeles faces Antonio Margarito (9-3, five knockouts) of Chula Vista. Ankamah, 29, has won four consecutive fights.
The undercard, which features a flyweight bout between Ramon Hurtado (11-1, nine knockouts) of Panama and Pedro Alderete (6-9, one knockout) of Mexico City, begins at 7:15 p.m. The semi-main event begins at 8 and the main event at 9.
