Yankees, Braves to Open World Series Today

Batter up! The World Series begins today at 4:30 p.m. on Channel 11 with last year’s champs, the Atlanta Braves, taking on the New York Yankees. Joe Buck supplies the play-by-play; Tim McCarver and Bob Brenly are the analysts. On Sunday, Game 2 goes to bat at 4 p.m.

WB premieres its new animated children’s show, “Waynehead,” today at 10 a.m. on Channel 5. Damon Wayans is the executive producer of the series, which is drawn from his real-life experiences as a 10-year-old in Lower Manhattan.

There is a bevy of new TV movies this weekend, including CBS’ “Blue Rodeo,” Sunday at 9 p.m. on Channel 2, in which Ann-Margret and Kris Kristofferson star. It’s about a mother and son whose relationship is destroyed by an accident.

NBC presents the four-hour melodrama “Danielle Steel’s ‘The Ring,’ ” Sunday and Monday at 9 p.m. on Channel 4. Nastassja Kinski and Linda Lavin star in the saga of a young German woman whose life is changed forever by World War II.

Kevin Dillon stars in Showtime’s “The Pathfinder,” based on James Fenimore Cooper’s novel about a scout infiltrating a French stronghold, Sunday at 8 p.m.
