Woman Injured in Riding Accident

A Thousand Oaks woman was still in intensive care Friday at Columbia Los Robles Hospital after her horse fell on her during a riding accident the day before.
Pat Morrisson, 49, has lingering neurological problems and is still disoriented from the fall, said Kris Carraway, a hospital spokeswoman. “She doesn’t remember anything,” Carraway said.
Morrisson apparently could not even remember her name or age, Carraway said. The accident occurred about 3 p.m. Thursday near Grimes Canyon Road in Moorpark, Capt. Edward Ho of the Ventura County Fire Department said.
Morrisson’s horse had been startled, reared back and fell onto her and knocked her unconscious, Ho said.
By the time emergency crews arrived, Morrisson had regained consciousness but could not speak. “She could only answer questions by blinking her eyes or squeezing her hand,” he said. A helicopter from the Sheriff’s Aviation Unit airlifted Morrisson to the hospital.
