Man Stabbed During Brawl at Restaurant

A scuffle in the drive-through lane at a Jack-in-the-Box restaurant early Saturday ended with one man hospitalized with stab wounds to the chest and shoulder.

The victim, 27-year-old John Chessani of Fillmore, was waiting for his order at the Ventura restaurant at 2352 E. Thompson Blvd. about 2:16 a.m. when he was challenged by several people in the vehicle behind him.

Chessani got out of his vehicle, and a fight broke out in the restaurant’s parking lot, police said. Chessani was stabbed twice during the brawl.

Arriving police chased and detained several individuals involved in the fight.

Ventura resident Daniel Armendariz, 20, was arrested on suspicion of battery and assault with a deadly weapon.

Chessani was taken to Ventura County Medical Center, where he was listed in fair condition Saturday.

Armendariz was held at the Ventura County Jail with bail set at $20,000.
