City to Take Over Complaints About Pets
Seeking to trim costs in its $160,000 animal-control contract with Ventura County, the City Council has decided to run its own complaint department.
That means that when a Camarillo resident registers a complaint about a neighbor’s cats, dogs or other pets, the hearing will be conducted by a city official rather than a county official.
“Presently, animal regulation conducts the investigation and hearing,” City Manager Bill Little told the council in his report.
“This procedural change would reduce costs by keeping the process with the city attorney and staff, making a separate contract with the county counsel unnecessary,” he said.
There is no estimate on how much the decision will save the city.
