Rookie Wright Doing It All

Coach Bill Fitch said rookie swingman Lorenzen Wright, the Clippers’ first-round draft pick, is a quick learner.
“Right now we’re throwing everything at him and hoping something sticks,” Fitch said. “If there’s a guy missing at a position, he plays it. He’s learning the trade.
“The one thing I like about him is that he has a great personality. There’s no quit in him. Right now he’s like a guy swimming in the deep water and he’s not sure that he can swim, but he’s thrashing like hell.”

Guard Brent Barry has invited his teammates and the coaches to dinner tonight at his family’s home in Danville, an East Bay suburb.
“Pam [Connelly, Barry’s mother] is going to find out the hard way how much food they can consume,” Fitch said.

Center Stanley Roberts missed practice because of a cold. . . . Fitch still hasn’t decided whether Dwayne Schintzius, Kevin Duckworth or Roberts will be put on the injured list. . . . Fitch maintains that he’ll get forward Lamond Murray, who has vowed not to talk to the media this season, to break his silence.
