Chapman Players Suspended After Being Arrested

Share

Two Chapman football players and a third student have been suspended from the university for their parts in an incident that allegedly involved drugs, Chapman President James Doti said Thursday.

Carl McRae and Dwan London, members of the football team, and Steve Bisel were investigated by the university’s special issues conduct board regarding an Oct. 7 incident that led to the arrest of McRae and London.

Bisel first told Orange police that the two players robbed him of $75. Bisel later changed his story, claiming McRae and London stole marijuana, not cash, according to the police. The charges against the players were dropped, but they remained suspended from the football team pending the university’s investigation.

An Orange police department spokesman said no new charges have been filed in the case, but the option remains open.

McRae was a starting linebacker and London was a reserve running back.
