Long Beach State’s May Injures Knee
Misty May, a standout sophomore setter at Long Beach State, injured her left knee Friday night during the 49ers’ 15-5, 15-10, 15-13 women’s volleyball victory at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, a school official said.
May, who competed in three sports at Newport Harbor High, suffered the injury during the second game of the Big West Conference match and is out indefinitely. She was examined by a doctor and will undergo further tests today.
Jessica Alvarado had 16 kills for third-ranked Long Beach (24-0, 11-0 in conference play). Long Beach plays 18th-ranked UC Santa Barbara in a conference match today at Santa Barbara.
