Rychel Is More Than Tough Guy

Share

Plenty can be said about the Mighty Ducks’ off-season moves--or lack thereof. But one that looks like a winner is the signing of free agent Warren Rychel, who won a Stanley Cup ring with Colorado last season, three years after reaching the finals with the Kings.

Rychel is counted on for toughness and character, but he is also the Ducks’ second-leading goal scorer. His four goals tie him with Kevin Todd behind Teemu Selanne, who has nine.

Rychel was signed in an effort to replace tough guy Todd Ewen, who signed with San Jose. Ewen left a gaping hole in the dressing room and on the bench, but Rychel is a more well-rounded player and has been less prone to injury.
