Orange resident Holly M. Ferguson, 41, has been appointed by Gov. Pete Wilson to a state board that regulates physician assistants.

The panel, the Physician Assistant Examining Committee, is responsible for enforcement, educational and other duties relating to physician assistants.

Ferguson, who works at St. Jude Heritage Medical Foundation in Diamond Bar, is one of seven members appointed by the governor to the nine-member panel.

The other two are chosen by state legislators.

Members do not receive salaries for serving on the board, which is mandated by state law to meet at least four times a year.

Spokesman Steve Tatum said the governor chose Ferguson in part because of her 10 years’ experience in the field.
