Casa Pacifica Gets Grant to Build Track
Casa Pacifica, the home for abused children, will soon boast a new track and obstacle course, thanks to a grant from the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
The nonprofit home was the recipient of a $13,522 grant that will be used to construct the new course.
“We are extremely grateful,” said Steven E. Elson, executive director of Casa Pacifica. “This new addition will allow the children to participate more fully in their own recovery.”
Casa Pacifica officials said the obstacle course will includes areas for physical conditioning, team-building activities, competitions and stress reduction.
The course will also provide Casa Pacifica’s older children with a place to congregate and exercise once they have outgrown the existing playground facilities, officials said.
Casa Pacifica opened in 1994 to offer abused children a place to live and study in a safe environment. Dozens of children up to the age of 18 live at the center.
The Ronald McDonald House Charities has donated more than $4 million to 150 Southern California children’s centers since it was started in 1987.
