A 40-year-old man was killed Tuesday after he walked in on a robber who had already beaten and tied up the man’s wife, authorities said.

Police had made no arrests and the names of the two victims were not being released late Tuesday, pending notification of relatives, said Officer Jason Lee, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officers from the LAPD Foothill Division were called to a house in the 14200 block of Polk Street about 2 p.m., Lee said.

The officers found the woman, 36, with head injuries and her husband dead of beating injuries to the head.

Preliminary investigation indicated the thief tied the woman inside the house during a “hot prowl” burglary and the woman’s husband walked in while the crime was still in progress, according to authorities.
