It wasn’t pretty, but Garry St. Jean will take it.

“I’m not greedy. I’m very happy to get the win,” the Sacramento coach said after the Kings defeated the Vancouver Grizzlies, 84-83, Monday night at Vancouver.

“When you get a road win, don’t complain.”

Billy Owens led the Kings with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Olden Polynice added 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Bryant Reeves scored 19 points for the Grizzlies, whose record dropped to 1-10.

“It’s frustrating when you lose,” Vancouver Coach Brian Winters said.

“The last few weeks I’ve been seeing a bit more competitive team and that’s what I’m looking for.”

Sacramento outrebounded Vancouver, 50-31.

“I take it personally,” said Grizzlies’ rookie forward Roy Rogers, who grabbed nine rebounds.

“No one likes to lose, but the effort’s been there.”

Greg Anthony missed a three-point shot at the buzzer for the Grizzlies, who led, 83-80, with 2:01 left.

“We found ways to get back in it,” St. Jean said.

“Different guys made plays. It was a good balance.”

Rogers scored 13 points for Vancouver.

Rookie Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Lawrence Moten each had 12.

Vancouver Grizzlies forward Doug Edwards underwent surgery early Monday to repair tissue separating the shin muscles in both legs.

On the injured list since Oct. 31, Edwards is expected to sit out the next eight to 10 weeks while recovering and rehabilitating.
