Burrell Has 28, Cuts Down Sequoias

Antelope Valley College guard John Burrell scored 28 points, including six three-pointers, to lift the Maruaders to a 118-84 victory over College of the Sequioas on Wednesday night at Antelope Valley.
Burrell, a freshman from Highland High, made 10 of 16 shots.
Jonathan George and Tomay Holdip each added 15 points for Antelope Valley (3-0).
Citrus 83, Glendale 79--Carl Biel scored 31 points, including seven three-pointers, but the Vaqueros (1-1) fell in overtime at Glendale.
Ryan Silva added 17 for Glendale, which rallied from a five-point halftime deficit.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Valley 97, Citrus 76--Shawanda Hotchkiss scored 24 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had five assists for the Monarchs (2-1) at Citrus.
Bahaneh Maani, a freshman from Grant High, scored 12 points for Valley.
