Airport Security Rules Tightened

The Federal Aviation Administration is issuing rules to help assure that only approved workers have access to secure airport areas. The rules, under consideration for months, will take effect immediately in response to a report on NBC-TV’s “Dateline,” FAA spokesman Eliot Brenner said. Undercover reporters working for contractors at airports went into secure areas without mandatory background checks, NBC reported.
