Supervisors OK New Judgeship for Court

To help ease the workload in Citrus Municipal Court, the county Board of Supervisors this week announced authorization of another judgeship for the West Covina court.

The only trial court in Los Angeles County to receive such authorization, it can expect a new judge after Jan. 1, when the governor is scheduled to make an appointment, said Karen Ringuette, a spokeswoman for the Judicial Council of California.

“This action will alleviate the backlog in the justice system,” said Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich. “The state will pay for the cost of the judge and the support staff.”
