NONCONFERENCE
* PEPPERDINE (1-1) at BOISE STATE (0-1)
Time--6:30. Radio--KWNK (670).
The Waves catch Boise State at an opportune time. The Broncos will be without guard Joe Wyatt, the team’s leading scorer last season. He begins a three-game suspension tonight for breaking team rules. In Wyatt’s absence, Boise State figures to rely heavily on 6-foot-8 center J.D. Huleen, who scored 23 points in the Broncos’ 74-69 loss at Washington State last Saturday. Four Pepperdine players have double-figure scoring averages, led by by guard Marques Johnson at 12.5. Johnson scored 20 points Monday in an 81-67 victory over UC Santa Barbara, after the Waves were drubbed, 80-54, in their opener at Weber State. “I feel 110% better about the team’s performance,” Coach Lorenzo Romar said after getting his first victory.
