Clearing Skies to Follow Drizzles

A cold front generated some drizzles throughout Ventura County on Thursday, but holiday shoppers can expect gradually clearing skies through the weekend.

Ventura reported 0.02 of an inch, Point Mugu 0.04 of an inch and Oxnard a trace through 4:30 p.m. Thursday, said Mark Mulholland, a meteorologist with WeatherData Inc.

“There’s nothing to rain down on you, basically,” he said.

East county recording stations reported no rain, although Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley saw just enough precipitation to prompt motorists to turn on their windshield wipers, Simi Valley Police Lt. Rex Jones said.

The California Highway Patrol reported virtually no traffic problems, but kept three additional officers on duty in case problems materialized during the evening rush hour, Officer George Orozco said.

“We haven’t been inundated with any calls or anything like we normally are under these circumstances, so we’re doing well,” he said.

Roads may get a little damp again before 8 a.m. today, but no significant precipitation is anticipated, Mulholland said.

Temperatures in the mid-50s to mid-60s are expected today under fair to partly cloudy skies.

Temperatures should warm slightly by Sunday to the upper 50s to upper 60s.
