Fine Arts Foundry Reopens at CSUN

With a flash of brilliant green and yellow, Cal State Northridge has reopened a fine arts foundry that had been closed since the 1994 earthquake.

The foundry, which was closed to give other art departments emergency space, will be used for bronze and aluminum casting.

Dave Elder, who has overseen the reopening of the foundry, plans to teach a metal casting course in the spring semester. Few collegiate art programs in California have working foundries, Elder said.
