Robinson Not Feeling Merry About Home Stand

After a tough road schedule during the first two months of the season, the Kings had looked forward to their just-completed five-game home stand. King Coach Larry Robinson, however, wished that his fragile team had it any other time but around the holiday season.

“I always liked it better when we were on the road during Christmas time,” Robinson said when asked about the team’s 1-3 record going into Saturday night’s game against Washington. “But that’s really no excuse for how we’ve played.”

The Kings are allowing minor league defenseman Aki Berg to play for Finland in the World Junior Championships in Switzerland. Berg, 19, was the Kings’ No. 1 draft choice in the 1995 entry draft and has been playing with Phoenix. He will leave the Roadrunners on Tuesday and rejoin them Jan. 5.
