Yvonne Solis, an infielder on Cal State Fullerton’s softball team in 1986 and ‘87, died Friday of a heart attack. She was 31.

An autopsy revealed a blood clot had caused damage to one of the main arteries, an athletic department spokesman said.

She attended Western High School, had a two-year career at Orange Coast College, then played on the Titans’ 1986 national championship team.

Solis, an Oceanside resident, was a manager with Del Taco Corp.

“I think I’m in shock, and it’s especially poignant given that we just saw Yvonne at our alumni game in October,” Titan Coach Judi Garman said Monday. “We were talking about how happy she was, that her life was really going well. She had planned to come back [to school] this season and stay more involved with the program.”

She is survived by her parents, Pablo and Benita Solis of Riverside, and a sister, Xiomara of Anaheim. Services will be at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Forest Lawn in Hollywood Hills.
