Knicks Go to Houston to Win

The Philadelphia 76ers lost their ninth game in a row Friday night as Allan Houston scored a season-high 32 points to lead the New York Knicks to a 110-103 victory at Philadelphia.

Philadelphia (7-17) had defeated the Knicks twice earlier this season.

Larry Johnson had 18 points for the Knicks, including 10 in the last 5:09 of the third quarter when New York outscored Philadelphia, 16-2.

Philadelphia led, 59-58, with 6:36 remaining in the third period, before Johnson fueled the Knicks’ spurt.

Jerry Stackhouse led the 76ers with 25 points and rookie guard Allen Iverson added 22.

Utah 98, Orlando 93--John Stockton had 22 points and 15 assists at Orlando to lead the Jazz over the Magic, who have lost eight of their last nine games.

Stockton led a fourth-quarter comeback with 16 points in the period, including a three-point basket during an 8-0 burst and an off-balance jumper in the lane that put Utah up 93-87 with just under a minute to go.

Rony Seikaly led Orlando with a season-high 30 points and 10 rebounds.

Atlanta 109, New Jersey 95--Steve Smith scored 20 points and the Hawks, continuing a hot streak from three-point range, won their fifth win in a row at Atlanta.

Atlanta broke the game open with a 19-3 run over the final 4:46 of the opening period for a 30-17 lead. Point guard Mookie Blaylock scored 10 points in the run.

Rookie Kerry Kittles led New Jersey with 28 points.

Detroit 84, Indiana 75--Otis Thorpe scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds--seven on the offensive end--to lead the Pistons at Indianapolis.

Thorpe led the Pistons to 24 second-chance points on 15 offensive rebounds. Lindsay Hunter led Detroit with 20 points.

Reggie Miller led Indiana with 18 points, but had only two in the decisive fourth quarter while guarded by Joe Dumars.

Portland 107, Dallas 77--Clifford Robinson scored nine of his 21 points in the decisive third quarter to lead the Trail Blazers at Portland.

Robinson and Isaiah Rider, who scored 12 of his 18 points in the third, led the Trail Blazers on a 31-10 third-quarter run after the Mavericks had cut the lead to two points early in the period.

Gary Trent added 18 points and 10 rebounds for Portland.

The Mavericks scored only 30 points in the second half.

Cleveland 91, Toronto 82--Tyrone Hill scored a season-high 21 points and had 13 rebounds at Cleveland as the Cavaliers won their fourth in a row.

Hill had seven points during a 26-6 run that helped Cleveland turn a six-point deficit into a 14-point lead. The Cavaliers beat the Raptors for the third time this season.

Toronto’s Damon Stoudamire was held to 14 points on three-of-13 shooting.

Denver 108, Vancouver 93--Bryant Stith scored 29 points and Ervin Johnson added 19 points and 20 rebounds as the Nuggets won back-to-back games for the first time this season at Denver.

Mark Jackson had 17 points and 17 assists for the Nuggets, who never trailed and led by double figures for most of the second half.

Anthony Peeler had 19 points for the Grizzlies, who fell to 1-13 on the road.
