Police are seeking witnesses to a Christmas morning crash on Brookhurst Street that killed a 65-year-old Garden Grove woman.

Dolores Ceglia, identified in voters records as a local teacher, died at Garden Grove Hospital and Medical Center shortly after the 8 a.m. collision at Brookhurst and Woodbury Avenue, according to Police Investigator Tim Murray.

Ceglia was driving east on Woodbury when she collided with a southbound car driven by Rhin Nguyen, 39, of Riverside, Murray said.

Police said that the accident remains under investigation and that they hope to contact several witnesses who apparently left the scene before officers arrived.

“Their statements are very important,” Murray said.

Ceglia has sons living in Anaheim, Huntington Beach and Garden Grove, according to coroner’s investigators, but her family could not be reached for comment Wednesday.

The car she was driving was packed with wrapped Christmas gifts.

Police ask anyone with information about the accident or witnesses to call Murray at (714) 741-5823.
