Two young Glendale men were hospitalized Saturday after being shot by a group of assailants near the Fern Dell in Griffith Park, authorities said.

One unidentified 20-year-old was wounded in the ankle around 7 p.m. as he ran for cover across Los Feliz Boulevard, according to Officer Mike Partain, with the Los Angeles Police Department.

While paramedics were treating the man in the 2000 block of North Oxford Avenue, Partain said, shots were heard from the 1900 block of North Serrano Avenue. The officer said that was believed to be the attack on a 19-year-old man.

“We know the shootings were related,” Partain said.

The 20-year-old was taken to Queen of Angels Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.

The 19-year-old was taken to County-USC Medical Center, Humphrey said.

The conditions of the men were not known late Saturday.

Partain said police had not identified any suspects.
