Seen, Not Heard at Moorpark Meetings

Share

Why--after the city of Moorpark spent thousands of dollars to install an up-to-date television and audio system, so the taxpayers can view and hear City Council meetings live in their living rooms--can’t the taxpayers who attend the meetings in the council’s chamber hear the speakers?

When those attending complain, they are told that if the audio system is turned up so the speakers can be heard throughout the chambers it will cause an audio feedback to the television transmission.

Either the city was shortchanged on its sound equipment purchase or its operators are short on know-how.

Whatever may be the case, those taxpayers who attend the council meetings are being shortchanged. Effective watchdogs must be able to hear as well as watch.
