Magic Owner DeVos Seeks New Heart
With his heart deteriorating and his energy sapped, Richard DeVos, owner of the Orlando Magic, is seeking a transplant.
DeVos, 70, has a history of heart problems, including two bypass surgeries. He retired as president of Amway Corp., a direct-sales company with annual sales of $7 billion, after a triple bypass was performed in Cleveland in 1992.
“Mr. DeVos and his wife Helen are in residence near the facility while awaiting the surgery and anticipate being there for several months,” a statement by the family said Friday. “He is not hospitalized and is in good spirits.”
