Sheppard Out at Least a Month
Florida’s Ray Sheppard suffered a sprained right knee after being kneed by Washington’s Peter Bondra during the Capitals’ 3-1 victory Saturday and will be lost for at least four weeks. He will have an MRI on Monday. . . . Recently acquired Ed Belfour played the first two periods in San Jose’s 2-1 victory over Colorado but left after straining a knee ligament toward the end of the second period. He will undergo an MRI today. . . . Tampa Bay was without forward Dino Ciccarelli, who sat out a 3-0 loss to Boston because of a mild concussion and broken bone under his eye suffered during Thursday’s game against Montreal.
