Law to Aid Tenants of Mobile Homes

Share

Tenants of some mobile home parks will have more say in their rental agreements under an ordinance approved Tuesday by Ventura County supervisors.

The ordinance will prohibit owners of mobile home parks in unincorporated areas from reducing services unless they also cut their rent, officials said. The new law will also require park owners to get approval from a majority of tenants before any major improvements are made that would result in rent increases.

Officials said the ordinance was prompted by complaints from mobile home park tenants that have seen their services decreased while their rents continued to increase.
