Johnson Still Fast at Finish for Bell-Jeff

Jaclyn Johnson didn’t score in the first quarter, but her slow start didn’t hold back the Bell-Jeff High girls’ basketball team.

Johnson, who leads the region in scoring, finished with 24 points and 17 rebounds to help the Guards take sole possession of first place in the Camino Real League with a 74-39 victory Tuesday night over host St. Mary’s.

Laura Lunsford made five three-point baskets and finished with 22 points for Bell-Jeff (22-1, 7-0 in league play).

Rinda King scored 19 points for St. Mary’s (14-8, 6-1).

Crescenta Valley 72, Muir 60--Michelle Greco had 27 points and eight assists and the Falcons (21-2, 7-0) outscored the second-place Mustangs, 26-9, in the fourth quarter in a Pacific League game at Muir.

Harvard-Westlake 53, Notre Dame 32--Omelogo Udeze had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Wolverines (17-6, 6-1) in a Mission League game at Harvard-Westlake.

Louisville 62, Flintridge Sacred Heart 36--Becky Witt scored 17 points for the Royals (13-5, 4-3) in a Mission League game at Louisville.

Buena 85, Rio Mesa 21--Nicole Greathouse had 21 points and 13 rebounds for the Bulldogs (18-2, 11-0), who held a 28-0 lead after the first quarter in a Channel League game at Buena.

Oxnard 60, San Marcos 45--Sophomore Jaline Bradley scored 29 points for the Yellowjackets (11-10, 6-5) in a Channel League game at San Marcos.

Channel Islands 48, Westlake 33--Chenne Tuimoloau scored 17 points for the Raiders (16-7, 9-2) in a Marmonte League game at Westlake (3-17, 1-10).

Simi Valley 71, Agoura 58--Shannon Malia scored 25 points for the host Pioneers (17-7, 9-2), who stayed in a tie for first place in the Marmonte League.

Santa Clara 40, Calabasas 38--Niecee Madrigal scored 12 points for the Saints (11-8, 5-2) in a Frontier League game at Calabasas.

Nordhoff 65, Malibu 36--Christen Roper had 28 points and 16 rebounds for the Rangers (18-3, 7-0) in a Frontier League game at Nordhoff.

Moorpark 79, Santa Paula 24--Damaris Hinojosa had 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Musketeers (18-2, 6-1) in a Frontier League game at Moorpark.

Paraclete 57, Bishop 30--Kim Whisler had 21 points and 17 rebounds for the Spirits (17-2, 2-0) in a High Desert League game at Paraclete.

Muir 78, Crescenta Valley 75--Joe Bakhoum’s two free throws with five seconds to play helped the Mustangs (17-7, 6-1) to a Pacific League victory at Crescenta Valley.
