Help Sought in Identifying Body

Share

Investigators are looking for help in identifying the body of a man with a Grim Reaper tattoo found in a barranca on a citrus ranch just north of Ventura.

Ventura County coroner’s officials described the man as white, about 40, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, and 150 to 160 pounds.

His partial skeletal remains were found Wednesday afternoon by a crew clearing brush on the Willett citrus ranch on North Ventura Avenue near School Canyon Road.

A cause of death has not been determined.

Because the area is near the Vista Del Mar Hospital, a recovery center for people suffering from depression or substance abuse problems, officials said they were asking hospital officials if anyone was missing from the facility.

Ventura County Sheriff’s Department investigators said the man had the word “Cassandra” tattooed on his body and another tattoo of what they believe is the Grim Reaper on his left outer calf.

The man was wearing a Harris wool tweed coat with a zipper in the front and a black and white Eddie Bauer cap with earflaps.

Anyone with information on the possible identity of the man is encouraged to call the Ventura County medical examiner’s office at 641-4400.
