Record on Road Going Downhill

Share

In the 1993-94 season, the Mighty Ducks set an NHL record for a first-year team with 19 road victories.

That’s a total they’ve yet to match, and they don’t figure to do it this season either. Their record away from home is 8-16-4 with 13 road games remaining.

The Ducks won 13 of 41 road games last season, and five of 24 during the lockout-shortened 1995 season.

The Ducks still have only three players with at least 10 goals: Teemu Selanne (32), Paul Kariya (25) and Steve Rucchin (12).

Their opponent tonight, Vancouver, has five--including former Duck Mike Sillinger, who has a career-high 16.

Sillinger, 25, was traded to the Canucks last season for Roman Oksiuta, who recently emerged from Coach Ron Wilson’s dog house and scored his sixth goal of the season--and first since Nov. 17.

Injuries have led to a number of recent call-ups, boosting the number of players who played for Baltimore in the American Hockey League this season or last to eight.

The list of Baltimore products: Defensemen Jason Marshall, Darren Van Impe, Dan Trebil and Nikolai Tsylygin and forwards J.F. Jomphe, Peter LeBoutillier, Sean Pronger and Jeremy Stevenson.

Selanne and Kariya each have at least one point in 17 of the last 20 games. In the three games this season when neither has had a goal or an assist, the Ducks are 0-3.
