Laker update--A victory today will clinch the season series against the SuperSonics, the first tiebreaker if needed. The two wins so far have come by four points at the Forum and one point at KeyArena, and Seattle had the chance to either win or tie on its final possession both times. The Lakers have won nine of their last 10 overall and responded to the one loss in that stretch, a rout by the Clippers, by beating the Bulls and Timberwolves by 16 points and the Nuggets by 15.
SuperSonic update--Shawn Kemp will be serving a one-game suspension today for throwing a punch at Houston’s Kevin Willis on Friday, a disciplinary move that also carried a $3,000 fine along with the automatic $1,000 for the ejection. The SuperSonics won that game, 105-85, their first victory over the Lakers, Rockets or Jazz after starting 0-7 against the three primary challengers for their Western Conference crown.
