Santa Clara responded as Wuschnig slammed to go up 64-59. After the Lions missed, Wuschnig grabbed the rebound and was fouled. He missed the two free throws with 45 seconds to go.

But Drew Zurek tapped the rebound out to Jones, who was fouled and hit one of two foul shots to put Santa Clara ahead by six.

Tim Kennedy led Loyola Marymount with 18 points.
