Who Is That Masked Man? It’s Fiset

Share

Goaltender Stephane Fiset has played well in his last five starts and will finally get his replacement mask within the next two weeks. Fiset, whose mask was stolen last month, has been wearing the mask he wore last season with the Colorado Avalanche, but with a King sticker covering much of the design.

“I’ve had to wait until [Montreal-based designer Michel Lefebvre] returned from vacation. He just got back, so in a couple of days he’ll send it,” said Fiset, who is expected to start today against Dallas at the Forum. “It will have the same design as before. I’ll wait until next year to change to something special.”

The Kings are slowly getting some of their regulars back in uniform. Forward Matt Johnson, whose intimidating presence has been missed, will return after a four-game league suspension today.

Johnson has been out since being disciplined for his role in a brawl at San Jose on Feb. 5, and the Kings were 0-2-2 during that span. Forwards Dimitri Khristich, who has missed four games because of a cut right eye; and Craig Johnson, who has been out for most of the season because of a stomach injury, might be ready to play by Thursday night’s game against the Mighty Ducks at the Forum.

The bad news for the Kings is that forward Yanic Perreault will miss his sixth consecutive game because of a rib injury, and left wing Vladimir Tsyplakov will not play because of a groin injury.

Forward Dan Bylsma and defenseman Jan Vopat are questionable for today’s game because of injuries they suffered in Saturday’s 2-2 tie with Edmonton. Bylsma, the only King not to have missed a game, had to get several stitches on a cut on his leg, and Vopat aggravated an ankle injury that forced him to miss six games three weeks ago.
