An Anaheim man was slightly wounded early Monday when three masked gunmen robbed the Arco Thrifty gas station at 11500 Beach Blvd., the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said.

Leobardo Arellano, 37, suffered a grazing wound to the back and was treated at Columbia West Anaheim Medical Center and released, sheriff’s Lt. Lynn Nehring said.

The incident took place about 1 a.m. Monday when three young men wearing ski masks, two of them displaying handguns, entered the gas station, Nehring said.

The robbers ordered the clerk to open the cash drawer, which they cleaned out, and took several packs of cigarettes. The robbers also took a purse belonging to a customer, Nehring said.

It was unclear at what point in the robbery Arellano was shot, Nehring said.

Fullerton police said they were trying to determine whether the robbery was connected to two gas station holdups later Monday in that city.

About 45 minutes after the Stanton robbery, three young men, at least two of them wearing ski masks, robbed an AM PM Mini Market on North Placentia Avenue, just north of Chapman Avenue, escaping with about $300.

Less than 10 minutes later, three young men, at least one wearing a ski mask, robbed the AM PM Mini Market at 2840 E. Imperial Highway, escaping with about $200, according to Fullerton police Lt. Danny Becerra.

Handguns were also displayed in the Fullerton robberies, Becerra said. No one was reported injured in either of those robberies.
